System Requirements:
Gnomestash is a standalone encryption program written to use Microsoft's .NET framework
Operating System - Windows 7,8.x,10, *
* Gnomestash may run on other operating systems with certain configurations but this is not supported or asserted.
Base hardware requirements do not exceed the system requirements for Windows 7
Installation:
Download the .zip file installation package from http://www.gnomesnacks.com
or if you already have the ZIP file use any program that can extract .zip
files.
Extract the installation files to an uncompressed folder on your computer and
run Setup.exe. The setup program will install Gnomestash to your hard drive and
create shortcut links for you.
Use:
Double click the Gnomestash key icon or any Gnomestash encrypted .gs file to open Gnomestash.
Click File in the upper left and select the appropriate action you wish to perform.
Both encrypt and decrypt will bring up a file system window to allow you to select a file.
When encrypting a file, you select the file you want to encrypt the contents of and then click open.
Gnomestash will then ask you to create a passkey. Type the password, key, or phrase into
the text box and then click Encrypt.
A progress bar will track the programs progress through the encryption process and the Close
button will become enabled when the file is done. Click Close and the progress window will exit.
The new encrypted copy will be located in the same directory as the original file. If you wish to
delete or continue working with the original it will remain intact for you to manage further.
Gnomestash does not delete your original files it makes and decodes encrypted copies.
Decrypting a file is identical to encrypting. Simply select the encrypted file, enter your password
and press the decrypt button. A new unencrypted copy will be generated leaving all other files untouched.
Your encrypted file will not be deleted and originals will not be overwritten.
